CRLDS and partners have the extraordinary pleasure to invite you to the 6th edition of The Forum on Regional and Local Economic Development in Western Balkans+ 2024 – FoRLED 2024!
The 6th edition of the Regional and Local Economic Development in Western Balkans+ Forum -FoRLED 2024 will be held on 5-8 December 2024 in the city of Vlora.
The FoRLED 2024, will be again a three-days event on regional and local economic development policy in the Western Balkans organized by CRLDS Albania, in partnership with the Municipality of Vlora, the Regional Council of Vlora, the European Academy of Regions, the University Ismail Qemali of Vlora, Portal Authority of Vlora resulting in regional and local policy recommendations.
Our region can be competitive not only in digitization, renewable energy, green supply chains, blue economy but also in sustainable living. A future where rural and urban economies thrive and sustainability is not treated as a political chore. Conference: “Bridging Sustainable Blue & Green Development in Albania and Western Balkans” is an international event dedicated to promoting and developing the potential of the Green and Blue Economy. After successfully hosting its last edition within the International Conference: “Green and Digital Transition in the Western Balkans: The Role of Regions and Cities” under the framework of FoRLED 2023, the event returns in December 2024 with an expanded program focused on advancing these vital sectors.
As unprecedented political, economic, and climate challenges loom on the horizon, the urgency to accelerate the green transition has only grown. This is especially true for the Blue Economy, closely linked to the ocean—a natural resource with enormous potential but one that has been devastated by years of exploitation.
The conference “Bridging Sustainable Blue & Green Development in Albania and Western Balkans” aims to bring together experts, companies, academia, civil society organizations, and local and national authorities. It will highlight the interconnection between the environment, society, and economy through an interdisciplinary approach, emphasizing innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and education.
At FoRLED we bring together decision makers, industry leaders and the brightest minds from regional research, civil society to transform visions of an attractive green transition into actionable strategies.
Spreading the green transition beyond an individual job to a regional cultural change is more than an economic opportunity. It’s a chance to redefine how our economies grow, how our societies function and how our cultures thrive.

What: The Forum is the annual meeting place for professionals and policy makers working with regional, rural and urban development in the countries of the Western Balkans and beyond. It is a forum for exchanging ideas and trends, for sharing new knowledge and for challenging national and regional policy agendas.
PARTICIPANTS
Participation in the Forum is open to public officials on different levels: local, regional, and national level, in Western Balkan Bodies and Institutions, in the EU, international organizations, diplomats, entrepreneurs and organizations of entrepreneurs, the public and private regional development agencies, academics, experts and civil society from different countries as well as other interested persons on the themes of Regional and Local Economic Development.
WHY ATTEND?
Officials, Executives, Academics, prominent business and financial leaders and Representatives of NGOs are invited to take part in a constructive discussion aiming to improve the bilateral and multilateral relations, the cross-border economic cooperation and sustainable development between the Western Balkans and European Union and other part of the world, under regional and local perspective.
